46: How to Lose Money by Partnering with a Crook with Heather Havenwood

Heather Ann Havenwood, CEO of Havenwood Worldwide, LLC and Chief Sexy Boss, is a serial entrepreneur and is regarded as a top authority on internet marketing, business strategies and marketing. [3:45] Heather worked for a big company where, despite being the number #1 in sales in the country, she was fired. And that’s what got her into entrepreneurship. After going to a seminar, she ended up working with that company teaching people how to buy and sell houses.

[6:09] After working with the seminar company and having learned all about how to create an event, how to sell it, what happens in the event and everything the industry.

[8:10] Heather partnered up with a speaker, where she did the backend of the event, built the company quite fast to a million dollar company in less than a year. They found that her partner’s knowledge is at real estate and law and she is good at marketing, which made a good deal.

[12:45] A rat was in Heather’s house and she later found that her partner and another man were trying to cut her out of the company. That’s when she related having a rat in her house as a sign of what was happening under her nose.

[14:44] Even though there was trust and respect, her attorney partner didn’t want her to have their contract checked by another lawyer. And later found that there she had no recourse in the contract and that affected her.

[19:40] Coming back home after a three day event, Heather found her house empty and a few days later, the partner sent called letting her know that she was out of the company and owned nothing of what once was hers.

[22:30] Her credit was saved after almost having the foreclosure of her house on it. This failed journey was paralyzing for her until one millionaire man told her to repeat after him “I Heather give myself permission to fail”

[29:40] Waking up with the question Who am I as an entrepreneur? Made her realize that it’s more about the journey, not the destination. Heather tells us about surrounding yourself with the people who inspire you to take action, like the Internet Marketing Party in Austin.

  • What is the bottom line reason of this failure? “I wasn’t trusting my gut, I wasn’t following my intuition, I wasn’t listening to myself. My confidence in myself wasn’t there, I was trying to prove that I can do this and not versus this is what I really want to do”
  • Was is the single most important lesson you learned from this? “Does this feed my confusion or strengthen my clarity? So I ask myself that question before I do anything. It’s only in clarity (that) we have power”
  • Who do you turn to when you need help? “I listen to myself and not gurus, I also have a business/personal coach and that sounds interesting but that’s it”
  • What advice would you give to someone in a similar position? “They’re not responding to you, this is not about you. Never stay where your presence is not valued, cut the cord quickly. Mature selfishness: I’m the most important person of my life”
